Postal history is the study of how letters have been carried from writer to destination throughout time. Many postal historians started as stamp collectors who became interested in the cancellations on the stamps they were collecting. There are many aspects of postal history and most collectors specialize in only a few areas. For many years collecting postal history was for comparatively few. However, increasing popularity and interest in the postal system and history have ensured rare postmarks are now as highly prized as scarce stamps. There are still many sections of Londons Postal History still unrecorded with the opportunity of putting together a unique collection at comparatively little cost. |
